Business Development Support

Experienced commercial support for engineering and technology companies.

Business Development Support gives engineering, manufacturing and automotive companies, spin-outs and research teams the commercial focus they lack in-house. It is delivered as a four to six week sprint with agreed deliverables, or as a set number of days a month, and it is scoped on a call before anything is agreed.

Why it matters: Many engineering and technology companies have strong products and strong engineers, but nobody whose job is to find, qualify and win new business. Founders and technical leads end up doing it in spare hours, and good opportunities go unchased.

What I do: I map target markets and customers, qualify opportunities for technical fit and commercial viability, identify and approach OEM, Tier 1, university and technology partners, and shape proposals, pitch material and value propositions. I also set up a simple pipeline and CRM routine, so the work continues once I step back.

How it works: Two formats. A fixed-scope Business Development Sprint of four to six weeks, with deliverables agreed in advance. Or an ongoing monthly arrangement of agreed days. Both begin with a short scoping conversation. I work alongside your team and approach other organisations on your behalf only as you direct.

What you receive: Depending on the scope, a mapped target market and prioritised account list, a qualified pipeline with clear next actions, introductions to relevant partners, refined proposition and pitch material, and a short weekly update on progress.

Best suited to: UK engineering, manufacturing and technology SMEs, spin-outs and research teams with a proven product or technology and no dedicated business development resource.

Fee: £550 per day, or a fixed sprint fee agreed in writing before any work begins. Monthly arrangements are scoped as a set number of days.

Terms: I work independently and will tell you at the outset if a conflict of interest arises. Introductions and approaches are made with your approval. Sales outcomes cannot be guaranteed, and my advice is not a promise of results. Everything you share is confidential, and I am glad to sign a mutual NDA beforehand.
