Readiness Review

Test your project against the competition you intend to enter, while there is still time to close the gaps.

A Readiness Review is a structured assessment of your project against the requirements of your chosen funding competition. It begins with a kickoff session and ends with a written report and a 60 minute debrief, delivered within three weeks of kickoff.

Why it matters: Choosing the right scheme is only the first step. Competitions are decided on how well a project meets the scheme’s requirements, how credible its match funding and partners are, and how clear its commercial case is. Gaps found early can be closed before the competition opens. Gaps found late usually cannot.

The assessment: A fixed-scope review of your project against the requirements of your chosen funding route. It begins with a kickoff session of 60 to 90 minutes, followed by a review of the documents you share and the competition brief, and ends with a written report and a debrief session of 60 minutes. The report is delivered within three weeks of kickoff.

Routes assessed: Innovate UK and DRIVE35 competitions, UKRI and Advanced Propulsion Centre programmes, and regional supplier funds such as the Supplier Readiness and Transformation schemes in the West Midlands and North East. The review is against the specific competition or scheme you choose.

What you receive: A written report assessing the project against each requirement: technology readiness, theme fit, match funding, partners and consortium, commercial case, and delivery plan. It gives an honest view of how competitive the project is today, a prioritised list of gaps with recommended actions, and a timeline worked back from the competition deadline.

What I need from you: A project description or outline application, the team and partner details, the current technical status, a budget estimate and match funding position, and any feedback from previous funding applications.

Not included: This is an assessment, not an application-writing service. Commercial case development, partner and consortium building and application review can be agreed separately.

Fee: £1,600 fixed, agreed in writing before any work begins. Payable 50% on agreement and 50% on delivery of the report. If you book within 60 days of a Funding Stream Fit, the £350 you paid is credited against this fee.

Terms: I am independent of any funding body. Funding is never guaranteed, and the report is advice, not a promise of outcome. Everything you share is confidential, and I am glad to sign a mutual NDA beforehand.
